Upsetting:Ugandan Petitions Court To Exhume Ivan Ssemwanga’s Body.
It seems like people are not going to let Zari’s ex-husband rest in peace. Just less than a week after his burial, the court has been petitioned to remove his remains from his grave.
A Ugandan citizen by the name Abey Mgugu has moved to court with the intention of compelling Bank of Uganda and A-plus Funeral Services to exhume the body of Ivan so that all the currencies that were thrown in his grave could be recovered.
He Mr. Mgugu argues that the bank of Uganda and A-plus Funeral Services are responsible for what took place during Ivan’s Burial on last Tuesday.
A part in his partition reads;
“All the currencies of Uganda shillings, South African Rand and United States Dollars and/or other currencies put in the grave and buried along with Ivan Ssemwanga’s body be removed by ordering the respondents to exhume the said late for purposes of respecting the Uganda currency and other currencies.”
A very interesting part of the petition is that, Mr. Mgugu the applicant will be the one responsible to put the currencies from the grave back on circulation.
“The purposes of the said monies put into the grave were misused and there was wastage of public property thereby violating social and economic rights of other people,” he said.
Ivan Ssemangwa was a South Africa-based Ugandan businessman. He passed away on a Thursday morning (25/5/2017) at a hospital in Pretoria where he had been admitted following a stroke. He used to live in Kayunga back in the 90’s before moving to Kampala for O and A level studies. He went to Central Academy where he became a head prefect and started building his profile. He laiter had married Zari Kirigwajjo in a traditional ceremony and together they had 3 boys.
